Abstract
The Indispensability Argument has been used as one of the strongest arguments in support of realistic conceptions in mathematics. In this paper we are concerned with (i) showing the kernel of the argument, (ii) criticizing a version of the argument which depends on the notion of empirical confirmation, and (iii) criticizing a new and recent version of the argument by M. D. Resnik in which he attempts to avoid the difficulties involved in the notion of confirmation.
