Abstract: Two approaches to the interpretation of Wittgenstein's works are much debated: the "text-immanent" approach on the one hand and the "contextual" approach on the other hand. Both sides in the dispute have produced arguments for their positions, however, in my view, without succeeding. In this paper I try to show why. I also propose an alternative approach which can be called "pragmatic constructivist".
