Abstract
David Stern clearly states his aim right at the beginning of his book: "This book is an exposition of Wittgenstein's early conception of the nature of representation and how his later revision and criticism of that work led to a radically different way of looking at mind and language". He expresses the hope that "there is much to be learned by looking at the process of revision that leads to the rejection of the leading ideas of the TRACTATUS to the development of Wittgenstein's later philosophy of mind and language"
