Abstract
This paper centres around the analysis of some aspects of Putnam's reference theory in order to examine the question of what a natural kind term is and the supposed semantic particularity of natural kind terms. Upon formulating, on the ground of several theses of Putnam, a definition of the notion of natural kind term, this definition is canvassed, paying especial attention to the question of whether the supposed semantic particularity of natural kind terms can be justified on the basis of that definition.
