Etica mas alla de los limites de la especie

The position I defend is that ethics extends directly to all sentient beings, that is, to all beings capable of feeling pleasure or pain. In contrast to those who wish to extend ethics to nonsentient beings, such as plants, or entities like eco-systems, I argue that there is no sense in which we can directly include beings without interests; but there are many strong reasons why the preservation of forests and eco-systems is desirable, from the point of view of the interests of human and nonhuman sentient beings.
