Abstract
Nonlinear dynamics, mainly represented by chaos theory and sciences of complexity, can be characterised according to the property of unpredictability. Therefore, as opposed to the predictable nature shown by linear dynamics, nonlinear dynamics leads to a new procedure of doing science. However, it is surprising that the crucial implications this kind of dynamics raises as to the notion of science itself have been largely ignored by philosophy of science. This article intends to offer some reasons according to which this situation should be reanalysed.
