Abstract

The purpose of this paper is twofold: first I defined a certain type of uncertainty that appears in the context of phenomena that are described using exclusively subjective judgments. This type of uncertainty has been traditionally treated inside the framework
of the so called “subjective (or Bayesian) probability”, and more recently inside the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. In the second place, I discuss several formal models on a common basis of uncertainty measures and I propose the one extracted from the
theory of Dempster-Shafer as a computational model for the representation and processing of the subjective probability understood as “degree of belief”.
