Abstract

The paper explores basic differences between the philosophies of Adorno and Wittgenstein by asking what one says about the other. It is shown that the conflicts between them are productive because they criticize each other constructively, so that each can learn from the other in essential ways. The central part of the paper contains a critique of a certain episode of Hegelian dialectics from a Wittgensteinian point of view.
